AWARE Masterclass

About this Masterclass

This masterclass provides an overview of relevant topics concerning cyber safety in the digital world for VET learners and teachers. It covers learning about digital identity and how to protect oneself from cyberbullying, which is a common threat everywhere. The aim is to enable people to learn safe practices when using the digital world and how to protect themselves from cyberattacks and cyberbullying.

The Masterclass is designed to introduce methods for safely navigating the digital world in a user-friendly, captivating, and easily understandable way. We use the teaching method of storytelling to engage people, as learning is most effective when it takes place in environments that provide authentic social cues about how knowledge is to be applied.

Learning derived from a well-told story is remembered more accurately and for a longer time than learning solely from facts. The content of the Masterclass is developed for both face-to-face and online use, including stories that bring knowledge about navigating the cyber world safely to life. Each module follows the same structure, which is designed by project partners to ensure a coherent presentation of this topic.

The Masterclass consists of three modules for both VET teachers and learners, as follows:

  1. Digital identity – how to protect it.
  2. Staying safe in the digital world.
  3. Cyberbullying and how to efficiently protect from it.

The Masterclass provides a variety of fundamental knowledge and practical methods for protecting against digital identity theft, as well as examples of various types of cyberattacks and ways to avoid vulnerability to cyberbullying. This knowledge can be implemented in day-to-day use and in a learning environment. Stories for each module are provided to enhance practical understanding of this extensive field.

Furthermore, the Masterclass modules serve as a foundation for developing a self-assessment tool for implementing cybersecurity in the learning environment.
